- มองหา Reporting Verb ก่อน เช่น said, told, asked
- เช็กว่าเป็น Statement, Question หรือ Command

หมายเหตุ:
Can → Could / May → Might / Must → Had to (ภาระจำเป็น)
- “I can help you.” → He said he could help me.
- “You must wear a uniform.” → She said I had to wear a uniform.
ข้อควรจำ: would/should/could/might/ought to โดยปกติ ไม่เปลี่ยน
Must ใช้ had to เมื่อหมายถึง “หน้าที่/ข้อบังคับ”, แต่ถ้าหมายถึง “ข้อสรุปทางตรรกะ” อาจคง must ได้ (ข้อสอบชอบหลอก) และถ้าเป็น ความจริงทั่วไป (General truth) เช่น “Water boils at 100°C” สามารถใช้ boils/boiled ได้ทั้งคู่ (ข้อสอบชอบหลอก)
Reported Questions (คำถาม)
- หลักเปลี่ยน:
- ตัดเครื่องหมายคำถามออก
- ไม่กลับประธานกับกริยาอีก (ใช้รูปบอกเล่า)
- ถอย Tense ตามกฎ

Reported Requests (คำขอ/การร้องขอสุภาพ)
- โครงสร้าง: asked + object + to + V1
- ปฏิเสธ: asked + object + not to + V1
- “Don’t be late.” → He told me not to be late.
- “Please sit down.” → She asked us to sit down.
แต่ถ้าเป็นการชวน/เสนอ: suggested/proposed + (that) + S + (should) + V1 หรือ suggested + V-ing
เช่น “Let’s start.” → He suggested (that) we (should) start. / He suggested starting.

Reported Orders (คำสั่งตรง ๆ)
- โครงสร้าง: told + object + to + V1
- ปฏิเสธ: told + object + not to + V1

รูปแบบคำถาม (Questions)
- Yes/No: asked/inquired + if/whether + S + V (เรียงแบบบอกเล่า)
- “Are you ready?” → He asked if I was ready.
- Wh-: asked + wh-word + S + V
- “Where do you live?” → She asked where I lived.
ตัดเครื่องหมายคำถาม, ไม่กลับขั้นกริยาแบบคำถาม, ไม่ใช้ do/does/did ช่วยอีก
Time Expressions (คำบอกเวลา)
การเปลี่ยนคำบอกเวลา ขึ้นอยู่กับ “ตอนที่เล่า” เทียบกับ “ตอนที่พูด”

การเปลี่ยน Pronoun และ Time/Place Expressions — กฎเลือกให้ตรงมุมมองผู้เล่า
หลักเลือกสรรพนาม (Pronoun Shift)
- ระบุ ผู้พูดเดิม (Speaker), ผู้ฟังเดิม (Listener), และ ผู้เล่าใหม่ (Reporter)
- ปรับให้เข้ากับมุมมองของผู้เล่า
- I → he/she, my → his/her, me → him/her, myself → himself/herself
- We → they, our → their, us → them, ourselves → themselves
- You (ประธาน) → I/he/she/they, you (กรรม) → me/him/her/them, your → my/his/her/their (ขึ้นกับว่า “คุณ” ในประโยคเดิมคือใครในเรื่อง)
ตัวอย่างที่ข้อสอบชอบดัก
- Direct: Tom said to me, “You should try harder.”
→ Tom told me (that) I should try harder. - Direct: She said to John, “You broke my pen.”
→ She told John (that) he had broken her pen.
การเปลี่ยน Time Expressions (เวลา)
- today → that day
- yesterday → the day before / the previous day
- tomorrow → the next/following day
- now → then | right now → at that moment
- tonight → that night
- last week/month/year → the previous week/month/year
- next week/month/year → the following week/month/year
- … ago → … before (e.g., two days ago → two days before)
- in two days → two days later
การเปลี่ยน Place/Deixis (สถานที่/ชี้เฉพาะ)
- here → there
- this → that, these → those
- กริยาเคลื่อนที่: come → go, bring → take (เมื่อเปลี่ยนมุมมองออกจากจุดหมายเดิม)
ข้อยกเว้น: ถ้าผู้เล่ายังอยู่ “ที่เดิม” กับผู้พูดเดิม “come/bring” อาจคงเดิมได้ แต่ ข้อสอบเก่า เตรียมอุดม มักคาดหวังให้เปลี่ยนเป็น go/take เพื่อความเป็นกลางของมุมมอง
ตัวอย่าง
- Direct: “I’ll meet you here tomorrow.”
→ He said (that) he would meet me there the next day. - Direct: “We met two days ago.”
→ She said (that) they had met two days before. - Direct: “I am doing this now.”
→ He said (that) he was doing that then.
กรณียกเว้นที่ไม่ใช้ Reported Speech (ออกสอบบ่อย)
- ความจริงทั่วไป/นิยาม: “The sun rises in the east.” → He said (that) the sun rises in the east.
- ตารางเวลาแน่นอน: “The exam starts at 9.” → She said the exam starts at 9.
- Reporting Verb ปัจจุบัน: “She says ‘I am tired.’ ” → She says (that) she is tired.
ทริกกันพลาดในข้อสอบ
- said to + คน → told + คน (ห้ามใช้ told to + คน + that)
- ask + คน + to V1 / ask + if/whether / ask + wh- (อย่าสลับโครงสร้าง)
- not to V1 สำหรับคำสั่งปฏิเสธ (ห้ามใช้ to not V1 ในข้อสอบรูปแบบเคร่ง)
- ระวัง must → ต้องดูว่าใช้ had to หรือ must คงเดิม
- ระวัง yet ใน Present perfect คงอยู่เมื่อแปรเป็น Past perfect ได้ (ความหมายยัง “ยังไม่” เสร็จ ณ จุดนั้น) แต่อาจตัดทิ้งเพื่อความลื่น

Conditional Sentences
